We were two lost souls back then. Floating about like feathers.
The feathers collided.
We had a connection.
We invested in that connection.
We gambled.
We built a life together.
Only to find out after a while that that connection wasn’t strong enough to continue the life we built. We couldn’t go on together.
So we parted ways.
Two lost souls then, two lost souls now.
It got me thinking about the happy couples I know. Couples that endure the test of time, emotion and circumstance.
Are they really happy? Or are they just putting on a show?
Round peg to a round hole? Or did they just choose to settle – give up the search – because time flies and ‘you should take whatever comes to you’?
Are we just unlucky, or are we one of the few brave souls who carry on with our quest for that true, strong connection – that bond?
Do we go on or just settle
Because time flies?
Do we each have a destiny?
Or is every relationship not more than just a random collision of two souls?
One random collision at a time
And so again, we float about like feathers
You and Me, lost as two lost souls can be
