Loss Of A Light

image

Last November 17 the world has gotten a little bit darker and I know why. A woman who had eyes that sparkled when she smiled, whose distinct voice and laughter echoed their way into many people’s hearts, whose positive outlook in life lifted weak spirits and tired souls, has gone somewhere. Somewhere peaceful. Somewhere nice.

I did not get the chance to say farewell to her, but somehow telling her how much I love her and how much she means to me as often as I could when she was still alive made a world of difference. She knew. And that made her happy.

She’ll stay alive in my heart for the rest of my living days.

She’s my mother and best friend.

The loss of a parent is the hardest to bear. But this loss has made our family closer than ever. Perhaps until her death, she has done what any good mother was supposed to do – keep the family together. She brought out the best in each one of us in this very painful time. And I know she’s looking down at us happy and proud. She has raised us well. From her eldest son to her two grand children. And we’ll keep on making her proud.

She’s the greatest mother one could ever have. And I’m so thankful she’s mine.

I love you Mama.
