Passion & Purpose

DSC_6885

This is one true example of a life lived for passion – not for ambition, greed or anything else.  During one of my sessions with my therapist, a very kind and compassionate woman named Linda, I asked her if she knew early in her life that psychotherapy was what she wanted to do.  Her answer was yes.  I told her she’s lucky and that I envy her because she has discovered her ‘passion’, the so-called heartbeat of one’s life, I would say.

She also mentioned that more than half in her class were career switchers.  Some of them realized their passions right at the height of their careers and immediately made the 180-degree turn, while some, especially those with family and children to raise, put their passion second to their responsibilities.  But in the end of it all, the pleasure of knowing what will make you ‘tick’ makes a world of difference.  Knowing is one thing (an important step).  Following your passion is another.

Are we brave enough?
