The Hamsa is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa, and commonly used in jewellery and wall hangings. Depicting the open right hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many societies throughout history, the Hamsa is believed to provide defense against the evil eye. – Wikipedia
I spotted this gorgeous Hamsa door knocker while exploring the city of Marrakech early this year. This was one of the many Moroccan doors I fell in love with. The colour of the door and the knocker somehow depict a certain level of contrast between power and vulnerability – a contrast most of us portray between our actions and our words. Purpose served.
